Hybrid Printing Power for Maximum Versatility: Dorado Design and the HP Latex R530
In the dynamic world of digital printing, the line between flexible and rigid materials is gradually disappearing. Print service providers no longer want to choose between roll-fed and rigid media; they want both, without compromising on quality or environmental sustainability. With this in mind, HP launched the HP Latex R530 just over a year ago, an all-in-one solution that has quickly redefined the concept of hybrid printing.
The potential of this technology was quickly recognized by print providers across our region. One of them is Dorado Design, a Slovenian family-owned printing company that has been building its reputation for the past 21 years on quality and close relationships with its customers. The installation of the HP Latex R530 printer, carried out by Fortuna Digital, was not merely a technological upgrade, but a strategic step into new market segments. We spoke with the company's owner, Mr. Kristijan Blažič, about the investment in the HP Latex R530 and how modern technology is opening the door to new business opportunities.
How did your collaboration with Fortuna Digital begin, and what was the process of selecting the right solution for your business?
To further differentiate ourselves in the market, we were looking for a technology that offered "something more," so we reached out to Fortuna Digital. They introduced us to the HP Latex R530 and impressed us with their professional approach and an excellent product demonstration. The turning point was our visit to the HP Customer Center in Barcelona. There, we saw the HP Latex R530 operating in a real production environment and had the opportunity to test its capabilities. That demonstration, together with Fortuna Digital's support, played a decisive role in our investment decision.
What made you decide that now was the right time to invest in this hybrid printing system?
We wanted to invest in a technology that would bring added value, expand our application possibilities, and create new opportunities for our customers. We needed a printer that could handle both roll media and, in particular, rigid substrates with equal confidence. The HP Latex R530 gave us exactly that in a single device.
Where do you see the biggest advantage of the HP Latex R530 compared to your existing equipment?
The biggest improvement is that we can now print in full color on a wide variety of materials. HP Latex water-based inks deliver outstanding results across numerous substrates without unpleasant odors or harmful chemicals, and they are certified with the UL ECOLOGO certification. This allows us to expand into markets that were previously difficult to access, such as kindergartens, hospitals, and hotels, where conventional printing technologies often do not meet strict environmental standards.
How important is it today to invest in modern technology in order to remain competitive?
Competition in our industry is stronger than ever, and the only way to remain our customers' first choice is by consistently delivering outstanding quality. For us, investing in equipment such as the HP Latex R530 is not simply an expense; it is a necessary investment in the future.
